This a great song, man!! I love the melodies and chord progressions you have there. The vocals are amazing. The rythmic of the song makes you wanna dance from the start :D... My respect to the singer. She has a beautiful voice.

Damn dude! You're too fast. I haven't even started developing my ideas for this round. I have a really interesting one, but it still on the stage of "don't know if it's gonna work out".

Your song is amazing. I'm a fan now. I love the feeling the piano brings with the melody at the start. I love how it tries to jump between modes but stays aeolian, before the sad slow part.

Haha, thanks! I've been the first person to submit a song in each post-audition round. I try to wait, but I just can't seem to do it. :3 Once a song idea begins to form, it demands almost all of my attention until it's finished. It is a tremendous form of motivation, but equally as exhausting.

[-La Pura Vida-Salsa NGADM]

It's a really good composition! But I will give you my latino point of view (I'm from peru. I make mostly metal but that doesn't mean I dont enjoy going salsa dancing once in a while :P...)

The production was great! great instruments, great chord progressions and super melodies. But salsa is mostly about the percussion. The timbales have to be as present as the melodic instruments.
And too many tempo changes... the song starts as a bachata or chacha song. Salsa is generaly not slow and has almost none tempo changes. It's about rythm. If it changes to much, it's harder to dance and it isn't fun anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I still think that it's an awesome jazz composition :)

Hey there,

thanks a lot for your detailed review, which is really highly appreciated. Thats exactly the form of constructive critizism i need to improve! I have to confess - when i started this piece i didnt have a clue how salsa actually works. I had to look on wikipedia which instruments are used in salsa pieces (i didnt even know what congas are :) ). After that i tried out some chords on the piano and built the rest of the piece around this core. I have not expected that this kind of music would be as complicated to generate - the structure, the rhythm (didnt try out rhythmical stuff until this project) and to accentuate the main melody in front of all those instruments (i think the piece has over 20 tracks now).

I wasnt sure about the tempo changes. First i had the idea to bring in some singing - would have been cool, but i dont know any hispano-hablantes who could sing for me :(. So i decided to bring a more jazz-inspired virtuoise structure and inserted a lot of changes ... maybe i have overdone a little bit. I cant dance so i dont have a clue how you actually would dance on this :D

So thanks a lot for your very useful review! I also wish you good luck and success in the contest!

Awesome riffing. Your mixes are getting better aswell. Like darkside said, this one has more dynamics (what I personally like), without beeing quiet. LOVE the atmospheric feel going everywhere in the song. It's like a new style for you, but you can still hear it's metaljonus playing.

Dude, we should do a collab again sometime. Do some cover and stuff :D... been practicing my singing (and mixing, playing, pooping, etc...)

DJENT AT ME BRO!!!! lol I've been listening to a lot of tesseract/periphery(as always) and scar symmetry's Pitch Black Progress album(soooo gooood). The heavyness and spacey feel some of the tracks have on that album got me wanting to try some spacey heavy as balls stuff. So this is it lol. I am always down to collab dude! Awesome stuff Alti!! really awesome. It's atmospheric and musical. I like the beat and drums... It gives the song kind of an industrial feeling, making you see how the biodome works to keep people alive.
